Divex in Cape Town Delivers New Generation Transportable Chambers
Divex in Cape Town, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Divex Ltd, has successfully delivered the first two units of its new design Type TC 1000 Transport Chamber to a southern African military customer.
A Divex spokesperson said that the Company won the contract because the new TC 1000 offered the best combination of portability, advanced features and affordability to meet the user requirement. The chambers are designed to support remote diving operations by providing easily-mobilised on-site recompression treatment as well as safe and comfortable transport under pressure to larger treatment chambers. Occupant capacity is two men – either for recompression treatment of an injured diver with an attendant or for two divers undergoing routine decompression.
The new TC 1000 Transport Chamber features a re-designed duplex stainless steel pressure vessel shape that reduces manufacturing costs and provides 19% more interior space over its predecessor, the Type TC 665 Transport Chamber. The new shape allows the attendant better access to an injured diver for the administration of basic life support.
Advanced features include onboard air, oxygen and power supplies, main and fine control pressurization, auto-ventilation facility, CO2 scrubber and a range of instrumentation which includes O2 and CO2 atmosphere monitoring and internal depth monitoring.
